This position is held within the Office of Child Support.
The Office of Child Support establishes policies and guidelines for the child support program based on federal and state laws. Ohio’s child support program provides services to help ensure that children receive the financial and medical support they are legally entitled to and deserve. The office provides leadership and guidance to all eighty-eight (88) Ohio county Child Support Enforcement Agencies, and processes all support payments through a centralized state disbursement unit.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position is charged with designing, conducting and evaluating training. Training includes both instructor-led and Web-based training. A typical work day includes conducting instructor-led training (e.g., virtually or in-person as needed), creating and designing web-based child support training and updating existing or creating new instructor-led training.
The ideal job candidate will either have a thorough knowledge of the Child Support Program and will know how to access and read case information in Ohio’s Support Enforcement Tracking System (SETS) and/or be a “well equipped trainer” who understands the concepts of training and is able to utilize software such as PowerPoint and has had some experience in the creation of Web-based training software. A successful Child Support Training Officer will be expected to lead instructor-led training and create Web-based training courses within 1 year of the hire date.
May have to travel outside office headquarters to provide face-to-face instructor-led training related to the Child Support Program. Overnight travel may be required.

The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the applications.
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
6 courses in human resources, education, sociology or psychology OR 18 mos exp in preparing informational instructional programs;
AND 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills;
AND 3 mos trg or 3 mos. exp. in operating audio visual equipment.
OR
Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Major Worker Characteristics:
Knowledge of
management science (i.e., human resource training & development, containing introduction to behavioral concepts & organization practices related to training & developing human resources & organizational development);
agency training practices, programs & policies*;
general psychology or education dealing with foundations of learning, transfer, motivation & evaluation;
public speaking or effective communication techniques.
Skill in
operation of audio-visual equipment.

Supplemental Information
Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of the salary range (step 1, currently $23.99 per hour) associated with this position.

This position is overtime eligible.
This position, upon approval, may work remotely and require occasional in-person work for training, meetings and other operational needs. Successful candidates must have and maintain internet at their remote location during normal working hours. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at an ODJFS location. Employees must reside in Ohio and within a reasonable distance to their assigned work location to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
