Job Summary
In association with the healthcare team, supports children with autism and children who have communication and behavioral vulnerabilities in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Incorporates the primary components of expert clinical practice, provides consultation and education, acts as a research advocate, and assures the provision of care to a defined group of patients. Serves as a liaison with agencies to foster program development, and advocates and provides support for the identified individuals.
Job Specific Duties
Responsible for coordinating services for children with autism and those who have communication and behavioral vulnerabilities following intake for hospital admission.
Meets with families and ensures appropriate inpatient consultations take place and that follow-ups are arranged.
Ensures that all intake documents necessary to develop comprehensive behavioral plan are obtained.
Ensures complete and comprehensive communication of findings to patient’s care team and families following intake for inpatient stay.
Serves as front line clinical resource for identified patients within NCHS.
Responsible for advocacy, coordination and linkage of services to provide continued care and to avoid fragmentation and inaccessibility of recommended services at discharge of inpatient stay.
Coordinates education and trainings to departments as identified by team.
Responsible for compiling relevant data for review and production of quality reports.
Coordinates and attends inpatient meetings, interdisciplinary meetings, and rounds.
Researches advancement and developments in-patient – center care, best practices, and national/local organizations.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a clinical or educational field such as nursing, applied behavior analysis, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, education, psychology, social work, child life, etc.
American Heart Association BLS – maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
Safety Care – maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
3 years of experience in clinical pediatric setting
2 years of experience working with special needs population
Bilingual in English/Spanish
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Satisfies requirements of applicable individual state and professional license.
Practitioner experience preferred.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Possess strong organizational and planning skills.
Able to take on multiple tasks at a time.
Able to perform expert specialized skills that are required for specific specialty area.
Able to teach specialized skills that are required for specific specialty area.
Well versed in conflict management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with patients, caregiver(s), physicians, and healthcare professionals in all work-related situations.
Possesses and demonstrates effective written communication skills for record keeping and report writing.
Analytical ability necessary to evaluate, interpret, and analyze data.
Knowledge in data collection and interpretation.
Computer skills (Word, Excel).
