JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the cleanliness, order and safety of the beach, Kauna’oa Bay and adjacent lawn area(s). Attend to and service the guests at the beach, in Kauna’oa Bay and adjacent lawn area(s) according to resort standards. Provide a warm greeting upon arrival, setting up of beach/lawn chaise lounges, sand chairs, umbrellas, tables and towels. In addition, setting up of cabana(s). Inform guests of the Hotel’s Ocean Awareness Program and offer water and lawn activities. Respond to emergencies following Hotel procedures. Attendants assigned to the lifeguard stand must oversee the general conditions of the beach and swimmers, responding to emergencies utilizing lifesaving techniques and must be USLA certified. Attendants assigned to the waterman duties should meet minimal requirement and certification to assist guests with water activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Proper swiping in and out in Dayforce at the Loading Dock, daily.
2.Push towel bins to and from the loading dock, to and from the towel shack for guest usage.
3.Inspect the cleanliness and condition of the beach, Kauna’oa Bay and adjacent lawn area(s) and removing all dirty towels and debris.
4.Removing all safety hazards or faulty equipment; report equipment in need of repair and complete work orders.
5.Inspect the beach area daily and rectify all safety hazards or faulty equipment; report equipment in need of repair and complete work orders.
6.Set-up and sanitizing beach/lawn chaise lounges and sand chairs, umbrellas with augers, and tables daily on the beach using the proper equipment and cleaning supply.
7.Greet and welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner when they arrive to the beach and offer assistance according to Hotel standards.
8.Issue chaise lounge covers, towels, lawn games and any other amenities as per Hotel standards.
9.Inform all guests of the Hotel’s Ocean Awareness Program.

11.Instruct guests on proper use of beach equipment.
12.Advise and enforce Hotel Safety Rules on use of the beach and its equipment.
13.Maintain a proper supply of chaise lounge covers, towels, merchandise and any other supplies.
14.Pick-up chaise lounge covers and towels, keep the beach Kauna’oa Bay and adjacent lawn area(s), to include areas fronting guest rooms, tidy and orderly throughout the day.
15.Observe guests at the beach, responding to concerns and emergencies according to Hotel procedures.
16.Clean beach/lawn chaise lounges and sand chairs, umbrellas with auger, and tables daily from the beach using proper equipment andcleaning supply at start of shift and end of shift.
17.Assist with beach and lawn duties to include but not limited to: setting up umbrellas, breaking down umbrellas, chairs, cabanas, raking of the beach, etc.
18.Observe guests at the beach, responding to concerns and emergencies according to Hotel procedures.
19.May be required to assume lifeguard duties on the beach, lawn, and ocean as a certified USLA Lifeguard.
20.Respond to emergency situations according to resort procedures and as a certified USLA Lifeguard.
21.May be required to assist and instruct guests with water activity equipment to include: OC1/OC2, canoes, sailing canoes, SUP’s and any and all kinds of boards, kayaks, etc.
22.Clean beach/lawn chaise lounges and sand chairs, umbrellas with auger, and tables daily from the beach using proper equipment and cleaning supply at start of shift and end of shift.
23.Breakdown beach/lawn chaise lounges, umbrellas, tables using proper equipment and storing in designated areas.
24.Secure beach/lawn chaise lounges, umbrellas, tables and other equipment at the end of the day.
25.Perform job duties following safety policies, procedures and standards.
26.Perform other related duties as assigned or required by Director of Activities, Activities & Beach Manager and/or Beach Manager.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. May perform minor repair on beach equipment, beach chairs, cabanas, etc.
2. Transport clean/dirty towels to and from loading dock and/or housekeeping and Hapuna laundry
3. Assist with monthly or quarterly inventories.
4. Order and pick up supplies from storeroom, main kitchen, or housekeeping when necessary.
5. Assist with special programs such as site inspections, photo shoots, children’s programs, group events, etc. as sponsored by the hotel.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

WorkingConditions:

Works outdoors in the sun and other weather conditions
Bright reflection of the water in the ocean
May need to enter the water in rescue situations; in calm or rough ocean conditions

Work Hours:

Must be able to work shifts and days determined by the manager, daytime hours until sunset or later for special events.
Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week if needed due to business or available staffing.

Equipment Use:

Rescue equipment: Jet Ski, surfboard, floater, AED, zodizc, ATV, etc.
Torches, conch shell
Carts to transport towels
Lawn, beach chairs and umbrellas
Telephone and radio

Mental and Physical Demands:

Must be able to work in the sun and outdoors for most of shift
Must be able to enter the ocean or pool in rescue situations using AED, First Aid, First Responder training.
Must be able to handle stressful situations.
Must be a strong swimmer; must be able to handle rough ocean conditions and/or strong currents.
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs – the equivalent of 5 umbrellas at once.
Must be able to walk in sand carrying and pulling chairs.
Must be able to carry and anchor umbrellas in sand.
Must be able to push/pull laundry carts with towels weighing 50lb or more.
Must be able to stand and walk white on duty.

Communication Demands:

Must be able to verbally communicate the Ocean Awareness Program and other information to guests.
Must be able to effectively communicate with appropriate resort employees and rescue personnel in emergencies over the phone, radio, and in person.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

First Aid/CPR Certified/AED Certified
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified
Minimal Waterman requirement and certification for OC1/OC2, canoes, sailing canoes, SUP’s, any and all kinds of boards, kayaks, etc.
Must become USLA Certified by completion of minimum requirement of 1000 beach hours and achieve certification within 6 months of hire date for full-time and 12 months of hire date for part-time/casual.
Must satisfactorily complete First Responder Certification training and meet re-certification requirements as needed.
Health Department TB Clearance if serving food and beverage items.
