Position : PARK RANGER
Job Description : Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and specialized work activities in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.
Job Duties:
Programmatic:
Hosts visitors.
conducts interpretive programs and will lead guided tours in cave.
Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.
Provides information in response to visitor questions and concerns;
Public and Staff safety:
Prepare for cave tours while checking for safety; cave trail maintenance, cleaning handrails.
Promote the safety of park visitors and enforces Park rules and protect Park resources.
Utilizes two-way radio communications system.
Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers.
Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
Customer Service:
Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to publics inquires about park hours, accommodations, reservations.
Reporting:
Records and completes all necessary reports concerning , revenue and attendance, time sheets, etc.
Data Collection and monitors of weather and cave conditions to report out appropriate agencies.
Cash Handling:
Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop.
Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.
Awareness and participation in Systems Management (AMS) Strategic thinking for the organization to maximize the mission outcome.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge of:
Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Interpretive programs (environmental/biological/ecological/geological) based work.
Park rules, fees and revenue functions.
Techniques for display and interpretation of objects/artifacts and general resources to visitors.
General office procedure.

Public relations and information dissemination.
Active listening.
Service orientation.
Critical thinking.
Driving and operating automotive equipment.
Basic curatorial techniques.
Ability to:
Research of natural or historical information.
Performing math calculations.
First aid techniques.

Selective Preference(s):
Degree in Park Management, Natural Resources Management, Recreation, or closely related field. Experience in park operations, interpretation and education, natural resources,
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver’s license appropriate to assignment.
