Position : Communications Specialist – Center for Social Impact (Part time, Variable Hours)

The UVU Center for Social Impact (CSI) develops active citizens who make social impact with our communities. Our work focuses on social impact pathways (direct service, community engaged learning and research, social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility, policy and governance, community organizing and activism, and philanthropy) and methodologies (theory of change, systems thinking and mapping, and equity-centered design thinking). We design programs, initiatives, and collaborations that move students from pathway entry points to more substantial community learning experiences.
The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing communications plans, producing communications assets, coordinating the completion of projects, maintaining brand fidelity, and supporting CSI events. This position promotes the values and work of the Center for Social Impact. This position requires tenacity, energy, and a commitment to social impact work.
This position is part of a dynamic and interconnected team of staff and students and reports directly to the director of the Center for Social Impact. The position is 20 hours/week and qualifies for part-time remote work, with only Tuesdays and major events required for in-office hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
10% Developing and executing communications plans:
Ensures and instills the social impact framework and methodologies in all efforts – working in power with community and living experts
Develops a strategic communication plan to effectively reach our various stakeholders (students, faculty/staff, administration, internal and external partners, donors, alumni, etc.)
35% Producing communications assets:
Drives the CSI’s social media presence (principally Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook). Creates, publishes, and monitors content, including impactful, educational posts. Supports and collaborates with the active UVU social media community. Grows audiences as appropriate.
Oversees CSI website content and manages annual web audit
Creates and/or manages the development of marketing visuals and materials for events and programs, including UVU’s digital signage platform
Develops resources to promote CSI approach, event/program replication, intercampus collaboration
20% Coordinating the completion of projects:
Hires and supervises student design associates
Supports and coordinates with student outreach and impact evaluation social impact fellows
Coordinates with Student Life communications liaison on press releases, media, and other communication projects done in collaboration with UVU marketing or other departments
Produces annual CSI report
15% Maintaining brand fidelity:
Copyedits outward-facing documents and materials
Enforces university and CSI branding rules
Manages communications budget
Keeps updated on relevant communication technology, tools, and trends
10% Supporting CSI events:
Contributes to CSI event development, communications, branding, and execution
10% Performing other duties as assigned:
Carries out other duties necessary to the success of the programs and other projects within the Center for Social Impact
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, digital humanities, or other relevant discipline, plus one year of marketing/design experience; OR, a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years. Proficiency in stated knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Abilities:Ability to communicate exceptionally and effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and also work in a collaborative environment as a team playerAbility to initiate, develop and sustain working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with social impact, community outreach, and/or higher education.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Must be able to work remotely.

FLSA Non-Exempt
Pay Range $19.42 – $24.27
