Position : Administrative Assistant/Rental Assistance Coordinator
Job Description : Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree in business, office administration or a related field preferred; five years of experience in increasingly responsible administrative support work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of Housing First Principles and/or Permanent Supportive Housing Model preferred. Considerable knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; of business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar; of principles and procedures of records management. Ability to perform a full range of varied and responsible office administrative, secretarial, and routine programmatic support functions in support of assigned programs, division, and/or department with only occasional instruction or assistance; to interpret, apply and explain administrative and departmental policies; to exercise good judgment in making routine decisions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; to perform arithmetic calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of more than six demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Duties
This position will serve as the Administrative Assistant/Rental Assistance Coordinator for a new Permanent Supportive Housing Program at Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services. Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in paraprofessional administrative or technical duties in support of the department and assigned programs. Primary duties will include maintaining system for initiating and managing rental payments and trouble shoot any issues that arise with landlord/tenants surrounding timely payments. Provides general and specialized information and assistance regarding assigned function and/or department programs and services that may require the use of judgment, tact, and sensitivity and the interpretation of policies and procedures. Assists in the collection, compilation and analysis of information used for decision-making, reports and special projects. Provides technical and administrative support in planning, developing and implementing department programs, policies and procedures. Assist in implementing and/or executing administrative operations and/or programs of the department or organizational unit within the department. Provides direct and confidential administrative, clerical or secretarial support to management staff as required. Perform other work as required.
