Position : Climate Sustainability Specialist, Junior
Job Description : Key Role:
Provide policy and outreach to support climate change, environmental, sustainability, and resilience initiatives within the Department of Defense. Conduct research, analyze data and policy, and develop reports to advance the Department’s efforts to implement current Administration climate change and sustainability priorities as they relate to DoD’s security strategies, operations, and infrastructure. Support internal DoD and external partner meetings on climate-related topics, assist in developing meeting materials, and participate in the meeting to capture key discussion points and follow-on actions. Collect, compile, analyze, and manage large, complex data sets to evaluate and track DoD’s climate change progress to improve installation resilience efforts across its testing, training, and operational areas and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Interpret and draw succinct conclusions for data collection and analysis to develop reports, briefings, presentations, fact sheets, social media, and other outreach tools to communicate with various audiences on climate change-related topics. Track local, state, and federal legislation regarding climate change and be prepared to compile relevant information in client-ready format.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with science and environmental studies
Knowledge of climate change policy or data analysis, including climate change adaptation, carbon accounting, or Greenhouse Gas reduction
Ability to function independently and as part of a team
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Bachelor’s degree
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of Department of Defense federal agencies
Knowledge of data analytic software
Clearance:
