Richmond National is a specialty property & casualty insurance company focused on providing insurance to small and mid-size businesses that are unable to find coverage in the standard insurance market.

We operate exclusively within the excess & surplus lines market, which provides our underwriters flexibility to develop highly tailored policies to best meet the insurance needs and risk management objectives of our customers.
Underwriting Assistant provides support and assistance to Underwriters and Underwriting Managers. Duties include collecting and reviewing data for new and renewal submissions,

performing administrative/processing duties and assisting underwriters by handling inspection, premium audit, and workflow problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review and clear incoming submissions in accordance with submission workflow.
Assist in the review of new and renewal submissions to determine if they meet underwriting criteria, and for completeness of documentation
Review documentation as received and input into the underwriting file.
Prepare and process manual binders, policies, and endorsements for issuance in accordance with Underwriter instructions.
Code premium for manual policies in accordance Underwriter instructions and with manual workflow.
Set-up and diary for follow-up of requested documentation and information.
Follow up for responses to quotes for both new and renewal business.
Order loss inspections and premium audits per division guidelines, diary for receipt, and follow-up as needed.
Prepare and send Notices of Cancellation, as requested.
Research, document, and maintain reference materials, as requested.
Other duties as assigned by the Division Manager

Proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience and Education

High School diploma required
Bachelor’s Degree or 1-3 years equivalent work experience
General Knowledge of P&C insurance operations preferred
