Job Description : Good Samaritan Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a FT Medical Records Tech at its Roanoke, VA location. Obtain verbal certification from attending physicians, coordinate scheduling of visits. Provide new referral information to medical records and billing staff. Prepare daily summary of referral and admission activity and track patients not taken in for care. Audit referrals and admissions to ensure documentation and EMR are complete & ready for billing. Ensure new charts are set up electronically per organizations protocol. Scan admission paperwork into the EMR and ensure that medical diagnosis codes are entered accurately. Close out discharged patients’ EMR and ensure discharge summary is complete within 24 hours.This position is entry level and requires 1-3 years’ experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Previous experience in a medical records’ preferred. Knowledge of electronic health record systems is a plus. Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail and Quality Focus skills needed.
