Job Description : Overview: The primary function of this role is to recover past due payments on auto loans, credit cards, signature loans, lines of credit and negative savings accounts. This role also includes the ability to be able to negotiate with members as well as work with members to find alternative payment solutions.Responsibilities:Communicate with members regarding their past due accounts via the telephone and/or written correspondenceMust have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writingUtilize skip tracing tools and techniques such as credit reports, software applications and web based searchesNegotiate with members regarding acceptable payment arrangements in accordance with Credit Union policies and proceduresResearch and resolve discrepanciesHandle a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls on a daily basisRecommend accounts for charge offUpdate the status of accounts on a daily basis with accurate detailed notes and follow up actionsEscalate accounts to management when the member is unwilling or unable to pay when necessaryPerform other related duties as assignedRemains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)Qualifications:High-school diploma or equivalentMinimum 1 year of collections experience is required; experience at a financial institution is preferredExperience working in a financial institution in a branch, call center or retail environment may be substituted for collections experienceWorking knowledge of FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) is preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office and databasesDemonstrated ability to use discretion in your workDemonstrated strong attention to detailAbility to work independently with minimal direct management supervisionDemonstrated initiative and resourcefulness as a self-starterAs a COVID-19 safety measure, our employees must provide vaccination status and follow all safety protocols, which may include testing.EEO Notice: Northwest Federal Credit Union is an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other classification protected by law.NWFCU complies with federal and state disability laws and makes reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities.
