Job Description : This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment nor does having worked one semester guarantee an offer of employment in the following semester. WWAMI School of Medical is currently hiring an adjunct clinical guide faculty positions. Educational Transcript copy is required.
Duties:
100Your job duties will include the following: The Foundations Phase encompasses the first 3 terms of medical school at the UWSOM/ WWAMI School of Medical Education. The Foundations Phase curriculum is delivered using an active learning / flipped classroom model where students are expected to have reviewed material prior to attending in-person sessions, primarily in small groups (5 -10 students), and occasionally in larger groups (20 students). As a Clinical Guide you will work closely with UAA faculty/ Block Leads to deliver the UWSOM curriculum through facilitation of small group sessions (typically case-based) or through large group interactive sessions. Additionally, as assigned, you may work with local Block Leads to develop, review or adapt course materials within the stated objectives, review and discuss assignments, submitting evaluations in a timely manner, serve as a resource for students, and participate in faculty meetings and faculty development.Essential
About WWAMI School of Medical Education:
WWAMI is a collaborative, decentralized, regional medical school model spread across a 5-state region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, & Idaho) between the University of Washington School of Medicine and the students’ home institution – in our case the University of Alaska, Anchorage. We accept 20 Alaskans into the Doctor of Medicine program annually through a competitive application and interview process. The Foundations Phase courses are taught at the 6 WWAMI sites at the same time, with common assessments.

Position Information:
Adjunct faculty position teaching course(s) for the Fall/Spring/Summer semester

This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment nor does having worked one semester guarantee an offer of employment in the following semester.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The physician must meet the requirements for appointment to the faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Preferred Experience:

A minimum of five years of clinical practice and teaching is preferred with some of this experience having occurred in the Anchorage medical community
Education, training and experience in a primary care field of medicine.
Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program.

Typical Education or Training:
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree. Board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or equivalent internationally recognized entity. Preferred active clinical practice locally.
