Job Description : Closing Date: March 31, 2022
Reporting to the Mine Shift Supervisor, the Mine Operator’s progression operates heavy equipment for the mine department following all safety regulations and procedures outlined by the company including 777 Haul Trucks.
Rotation will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Responsibilities:
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks including receiving and signing off on training in regards to proper operation of haul trucks from one point to another, understanding of dumping locations, loading areas, under close supervision of a trainer or a more senior Mine Operator
Responsible for completing basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk around inspection forms which include information such as location, material hauled, load count, hours worked and condition of equipment
Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and have the willingness to learn and advance through the Mine Operators progression
Communicate effectively with other operators, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior mining or similar experience preferred
Strong team cooperation is required
Performs all tasks with limited direction
Must work safely and follow instructions
Must be willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
A desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Mine Operations department
Successful candidates must be fully vaccinated against infection by COVID-19, subject to an exemption approved by Teck Alaska.
