Job Description : We are recruiting an enthusiastic Shop Hand to join our Fabrication team.

Our Fabrication Shop Hand performs a variety of tasks associated with the management, production and manufacture of various types of products, such as PA-18 fuselages, struts, tail feathers, and landing gear, as well as many other aircraft parts and outdoor equipment.

Essential Job Duties:

Part Preparation – Work with Production Manager to assess production schedule looking forward 1 to 2 weeks. Cut and cope steel in preparation for next week’s production. Neatly arrange materials on carts for welders to use in assemblies
Tungsten – Sharpen tungsten electrodes for welders. Keep consistent supply available
Powder Coating – Prepare all assembled parts that require powder coating to be taken to outside vendor. Coordinate with our delivery driver to unload/load van with parts to and from powder coater. Input all appropriate information in log books and computer system.
Move Completed Parts – Work with Logistics Coordinator and shipper to expediently get completed parts available for pickup/shipping.
Keep fabrication shop clean and organized. Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by Production Manager
Practice welding skills

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred experience working with TIG welding either through working experience, personal experience or weld school
Preferred experience using welding tools and equipment
Must be able to read drawings, tape measures and perform basic math.
Ability to take direction well and follow through with little or no supervision
Hand tool experience

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

Employees must be able to lift at least 60 pounds on a regular basis
Vision within normal ranges, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
Walk, stand on concrete floor for extended periods of time
Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair and fabricate
Reach below, at and above shoulder height to repair and fabricate
Work is inside a manufacturing building, exposure to heat and cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, vibrations and noise

Location

This position is located at our Palmer, Alaska campus
We prefer candidates that live within 30 miles of this location
