Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Crusher Operator due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career-oriented individual to fill this role.
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site.
Responsibilities:
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Participate in property and departmental safety initiatives some of which include High Potential Risk Assessments, Job Safety Observations, and accurate Safety & Environmental Task Analysis Card documentation and necessary follow up
Responsible for maintaining tidy work areas, lockers, tool boxes, shops and personnel accommodations
Accurate and timely record keeping including, daily Crusher Walk Around, maintaining Maintenance Work Orders when assigned with specific details of time to complete work, key observations of the equipment, parts used and those returned to inventory
Crusher Operators will be required to operate the both the Primary Gyratory Crusher and the Secondary Jaw Crusher, including support systems (feeders, conveyors, stationary rock breaker, hydraulic systems, bag houses, etc.). Operators will also be required to operate overhead cranes, small vehicles such as pick-up trucks, medium duty trucks, Bobcats, and forklifts
Interact and communicate with a variety of employees on the property such as Mine/ Mill Operators, Maintenance Engineering, Millwrights, Electricians, and Supervision on methods, procedures, and hazards in order to coordinate the operation and maintenance of the crushing facilities
Ensure all tools, walkways, and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (Mine Safety & Health Administration and Red Dog Emergency Medical Service training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Prior experience as an operator in a crushing plant or mine concentrator
Ability to adhere to high safety standards
Demonstrated team player, self-motivated, positive attitude, able to communicate well with others, and follow directions set forth by Supervisors
A strong personal desire to learn new skills and advance to higher levels of competency
Able to work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required
Able to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
Able to perform labor intensive work when required
Ability to obtain a valid driver license is desirable
Successful candidates muse be fully vaccinated against infection by COVID-19, subject to an exemption approved by Teck Alaska.
