Position : College Completion Coordinator
Job Description : The Office of the Registrar seeks a highly motivated, tech-savvy individual to join its team as a College Completion Coordinator. This professional should understand the needs and challenges facing Alaskan students with some college credit and no degree, and have experience and interest in building pathways and programs to meet those needs and mitigate challenges. The ideal candidate will have a unique passion for education and seeing students succeed, especially returning students with some college credit and no degree, as well as knowledge of best practices to support nontraditional students, particularly Alaskans, and a documented ability and initiative to stay current on best practices in related fields.
Duties:
15Identify, analyze and assess: Use Banner, Toad and DegreeWorks to identify former and existing students with some credit/no degree and identify the most efficient pathway to degree completion. Analyze current course and degree availability to ensure UAA’s ability to aid former students in completion and then create an outreach effort to engage these past students in return to complete their degrees. Work with academic areas to ensure a smooth transition and glide path through. Develop a repository of Toad queries to identify this and other student populations upon request. Identify at risk populations with a higher likelihood of stopping out prior to degree completion, analyze possible contributing factors, and connect with these students to support them in the completion of their degrees. Coordinate outreach, provide support, and market available tools to reduce likelihood of later stop out. Assess outreach effectiveness by tracking students in target populations through to degree completion.Essential
20Degree progress and curriculum review: Serve as specialist for graduation inquiries and questions related to curriculum policies, workflows and processes. Learning these and keeping current knowledge is critical to ensuring accurate and comprehensive support is provided. Interpret academic regulations and requirements as they pertain to degree requirements. Provide clarification of these requirements and university catalog interpretation. Collaborate with other academic units and help students identify options in resolving academic issues. Regular participation in Statewide work teams with connections to graduation, DegreeWorks, curriculum and academic course scheduling.Essential
20Student service: Provide superior front-line service to students, staff and faculty, with a particular focus on students with some college and no degree and with a welcoming and inviting approach. Support recruitment efforts led by the Office of Admissions through presentations and a variety of innovative, creative outreach efforts. Answer Enrollment Services calls routed through main line. Seek out and embrace cross-training opportunities in order to answer a broader array of questions and become a well-rounded resource.Essential
45Education access: Nurture strategic planning efforts, identify opportunities and support marketing efforts specific to students, particularly Alaskans, with some college credit and no degree in partnership with the Office of Admissions and others. Advocate for and nurture pathways into and through UAA for students with some college credit and no degree through placement testing, credit for prior learning, nontraditional transfer credit, and partnerships with academic departments and advisors, etc., to accelerate their path to degree completion. Shape, grow and nurture community partnerships with Alaska business partners to bolster interest in returning to college.Essential

Typical Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution. Master’s preferred.
Two years experience working full time in a post-secondary educational environment. Substantial experience working with complex web applications, database management systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, calendaring, email, and web browsers within the last 3-5 years. Familiarity with Banner, Toad/SQL, TES and/or DegreeWorks within the last 3-5 years is preferred.
Required Education or Training:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution and two years of relevant professional work experience in higher education. Experience working with nontraditional students will be viewed favorably.

This is a full-time, Grade 79, minimum $26.08/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
