Job Description : Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA).DEPARTMENT: PurchasingHOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.LOCATION: 632 W. 6th AvenueExample of DutiesUnder general supervision of the Purchasing Director, the Deputy Purchasing Director (Deputy) position may from time-to-time assume and exercise the same responsibilities and authorities as vested in the Purchasing Director. Understand and demonstrates substantial governmental purchasing and contracting; be intimately familiar with all phases of informal and formal solicitations, pre-award and award procedures, contract formation & execution, contract administration, and follow-on contract management; be aware of, and properly apply, requirements established by Federal Regulations, Alaska State Statue, Municipal Charter, and all policy/procedures promulgated under Title 7 of the Anchorage Municipal Code. Provides effective communication, active supervision, guidance and management to Purchasing Department personnel; and oversee the daily operations, administration, and application of systems supporting the department. The individual shall have detailed knowledge of construction, professional services, and purchasing card best practices.
