Providence is calling a Central Services Worker (Acute Central Services, Variable, 1.0 FTE – 40 hours per week) to Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. In this position you will:
TEAMWORK: Work with other Central Services and facility staff as a team unit to effectively address concerns and issues. Explains clearly to co-workers the tasks & procedures needed to produce a desired outcome. Interacts and cooperates with all hospital staff. Coordinates work tasks affecting other areas to minimize overall disruption and inconveniences.
QUANTITY: Plan activities to efficiently utilize work time. Provides steady work effort during paid work hours. Takes initiative to identify tasks that need to be accomplished. Effectively prioritizes work assignments and keeps them in balance with the overall Central Services needs.
QUALITY: Complete projects/repairs in a manner that seldom requires follow-up or corrections. Logically analyzes symptoms and issues to accurately identify problems. Completes all documentation including time cards, purchase requests, and work orders in a timely manner. Completes work activities and performs area inspections in a manner which allows safe access for patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Uses materials and time in a manner which balances cost and quality.
SERVICE: Take responsibility for problems encountered & follows through to conclusion. Provides service in a calm, consistent, effective manner with an objective of customer satisfaction. Promotes customer satisfaction by communicating the expectation and time line of the requested service. Conducts oneself as a hospital representative at all times while on campus. Fosters and supports the mission through respectful words and deeds. Consistently integrates core values of mission (Respect, Compassion, Justice, and Excellence) in daily activities.
SAFETY & TRAINING: Initiate & participate in training and learning of other staff members. Follows proper safety precautions, wears appropriate garments & equipment during the performance of work duties. Supports & contributes to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established polices and procedures, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting unsafe conditions. Takes the initiative to learn new skills, systems and information pertaining to appropriate Central Services functions. Demonstrates good knowledge pertaining to the safe handling of chemicals used with Environmental Services work.
RELIABILITY: Demonstrate the willingness to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed due to workload demands. Is a dependable team member capable of being relied upon to be at work when scheduled. Ensures continuity of problem resolution, even if beyond normally scheduled work hours.
TECHNICAL: Demonstrate good understanding of cleaning Methods and practice, priorities, and techniques specific to Providence. Demonstrates an understanding of the operation of cleaning equipment used through out the Providence campus. Demonstrates basic working skills for general maintenance on said equipment. Demonstrates good equipment operating skills for vacuum cleaners, floor strippers, and buffers. Demonstrates good working knowledge of specialty areas including sterile treatment areas.
Pick up and receives soiled equipment. Sorts, unloads and decontaminates equipment and instruments according to procedure. Delivers supplies and equipment to facility departments. Uses computerized inventory system. Completes department stock work sheets, work assignment positions, documentation, stock-out notification and stock discrepancy notices.
Steam autoclaves and aerators. Loads and unloads according to procedure. Identifies and documents any variance in color of wrap, visable moisture, or mechanical malfunction after sterilization is complete.
Respond to inventory supply requests. Completes cycle counts. Steam assemble trays, basin sets, packages, instruments and prepares items for terminal sterilization.
Use computer system to determine current status and other information related to each item maintained in General Stores inventory. Rotates inventory supplies based upon expiration dates and lot numbers.
Research alternative sources of supplies. Packages and sterilizes dressings and special items according to written procedure or request.
Serve as the liaison between other facilities for medical supplies and equipment. Orders, receives and stores supplies in designated areas.
Responsible for processing incoming and outbound freight, and performs stocking, order filling and delivery of materials and supplies.
Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Six (6) months experience in Central Services/Housekeeping
