The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and CalWORKs department is looking for an Office Assistant. Office Assistants are responsible for performing routine office clerical duties, requiring limited knowledge of departmental procedures and practices. This position will also assist new and continuing students and provide support for staff and faculty. We are looking for a vibrant and student-centered candidate that will support our programs and the success of our students. Work assigned to Office Assistants requires basic knowledge of the functions applicable to an area of assignment, the ability to solve routine problems, and basic knowledge of computer software and systems.
AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION
Type of position Full-time 12 Months (hours vary between 8am – 5pm)
Location: LAC and/or PCC
Salary: Range 17 ($3168.82 – 3883.93 Monthly)
Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Eligibility list: We reserve the right to use an established eligibility list for vacancies in this classification. The eligibility list be valid for 12 months once approved by the Personnel Commission.

Under supervision, performs a wide variety of routine clerical support functions in a District department, including typing, data entry, filing and receptionist duties; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and at least one year of office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
