Job Description : Position Title: Crisis Intervention SpecialistReports to: City SupervisorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWork Schedule: Up to three 12-hour shifts/week + meetingsDepartment: HOPEPosition Summary: The Helping Out People Everywhere (HOPE) Team is a mobile crisis response team by Mind OC which also runs the Be Well Coalition (BeWellOC.org). The CRISIS Intervention Specialist is a field responder tasked with assessing and managing the behavioral health issues of patients in crisis and works in tandem with the Mobile Crisis Medic.The Voice of OC (voiceofoc.org) did an online article on 2021-06-02 called “Orange County Cities Join Growing Movement to Use Social Workers, not Cops, for Homeless and Mental Health Response” that you might want to read.There are multiple cities under contract and looking to hire in the future also. Currently hiring for Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Anaheim & Irvine.Essential Functions/ResponsibilitiesWork Mobile Crisis shifts patrolling the streets and parks of designated city as dispatched by 911.Assume primary responsibility for making mental health assessments of clients and for providing crisis counseling.Maintain confidentiality and respect the boundaries of clients experiencing emotional distress.Attend required department and clinic meetings and share in other responsibilities as relevant.Complete all required trainings as arranged by Be Well OC.Make transport decisions regarding patient pare and be able to drive a large passenger van.Complete 6-month probation period.Other duties as assigned.Reports to Clinical SupervisorEducation and/or Experience RequiredAt least Bachelor’s degree in mental health field and/or 4 years of experience working within the mental health field.Due to our contractual obligation with the Police Department, and the nature of this position, you will need to pass the police department’s extensive background check. This includes a lengthy in-person meeting, polygraph examination, and review of the candidate’s criminal report, personal history, employment, education, and discipline.
