Salary: $3,635 to $4,422 per month (SR-16, Steph C to H).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
The basic objectives of the State’s agricultural commodity and marketing programs are to regulate, stabilize and expand produce markets; to facilitate trading and provide for orderly marketing; to improve the quality of agricultural products grown and exported or consumed in Hawaii; to enhance the competitive status of Hawaii-grown products; and to protect the public and industry against misrepresented products or unfair practices.
The Agricultural Commodities Marketing Specialist I receives both formal and on-the-job training as an entry-level inspector, with emphasis on the fundamental procedures, concepts, laws, rules and regulations, work processes and techniques involved in the inspection and certification of the State of Hawaii’s agricultural commodities; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in agriculture.

Progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical or other analytical work experience which provided knowledge, abilities and skills fully equivalent to those normally acquired in four years of successful study leading to a bachelor’s degree in agriculture may be substituted for Education on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.

Special Ability – Lifting and Carrying: Applicants must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck, etc.), with or without reasonable accommodation.

Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
