Job Description : Duties
This position is located in the Office of Field Operations, Houston Field Division, San Antonio IV (CGIC), Austin, TX.

This position performs as an experienced all-source analyst in the collection, analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and dissemination of information and provides strategic and operational intelligence products on emerging patterns, trends, and tactics of individuals or groups involved in criminal activities.

As an Intelligence Research Specialist, GS-0132-11, your typical work assignments may include:

Under the guidance of Senior Intelligence Research Specialist or Special Agent, clarifies the nature of investigative intelligence indicators, provides investigative leads, request data to suggest possible new avenue of investigation, and researches information for use in responding to collateral requests.
Perform complex analyses of raw primary and secondary data queried from various sources, i.e., internal and external automated data base systems, intelligence reports and case.
Provide detailed analytical reports of the activities of crime groups.
Conduct validation of sources and evaluates information derived from cooperating witnesses, assets and informants, and preparing production reviews of asset/informant/cooperating witness validation efforts.
Access local and national intelligence information databases to respond to and validate requests for information. Develop and maintaining computerized intelligence databases to generate statistical and relational reports.

To qualify for GS-11, starting salary is $67,696.00, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09.

GS-11 – You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:

Collecting, analyzing and disseminating intelligence information; using a variety of intelligence-gathering methods including link analysis, visual investigative analyses, crime mapping, and telephone toll record analyses to support investigative operations; extracting, compiling and analyzing factual information based on requests from special agents; and
Presenting briefings on a variety of intelligence topics to other law enforcement and intelligence agencies and organizations; and
Maintaining and modifying computerized reports that contain original analyses, conclusions and recommendations; and
Producing finished intelligence reports based on a review of data from various sources; and providing guidance and technical assistance to junior intelligence research specialist within the organization.

In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify for this position at the GS-11 with the following education and/or experience: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree in a field of study related to this position such as: Social Sciences, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Intelligence Studies, Behavioral Sciences or other field of study that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position
