Employees and representatives of BFT are expected to uphold our values and mission.NATURE OF POSITIONSupervise the maintenance and repairs of all transit-owned facilities, grounds, and related facility equipment; monitor the progress of contracted work including remodeling, new construction, painting and janitorial services; assure compliance with timelines and specifications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise the work plan of facility staff; assign work activities; ensure compliance with Agency policies and procedures.Perform inspections of buildings, bus shelters, equipment, and adjacent grounds to assure equipment and facilities are in safe and in proper working order; advise management of potential problems or risks.Assist in the coordination of building space allocation, layout, and building remodels as needed.Oversee the coordination and scheduling of office space moves; remove, transfer, assemble and/or arrange furniture and fixtures.Order or request necessary supplies and equipment to repair and/or maintain transit property, fixtures, and equipment; notify management when repairs are outside of normal purview.Assist in estimating costs of maintenance and repairs; recommend cost-effective methods in repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment to management.Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports, including work order requests, site plans, blueprints, and other reports pertaining to assigned work.Contribute to the maintenance of procedures and manuals for repairs, servicing, and maintenance programs.Oversee inventory; advise management of recommended materials and equipment; review operating records and costs to assure work orders are charged to appropriate budget accounts.Review service contract agreements with vendors, contractors, and consultants; ensure compliance with requirements and quality of services and products; recommend updates to management.Assist in capital construction projects; assess and address risk, create project plans, participate in selection of contractors and consultants; prepare and give progress reports, manage projects to successful closeout.Contribute to the execution of the contingency plan and adapt operations for unexpected weather conditions, equipment failures, and emergency situations; respond to emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Make recommendations to management of new and/or replacement equipment needed for efficient building operations and maintenance.Participate in union contract administration and negotiations; ensure all applicable labor, Federal, State, and local laws are followed.Participate in the selection process of new employees; ensure appropriate training is provided.Supervise assigned staff; counsel and advise management if corrective action is needed.Participate in special and ongoing projects.Prepare reports, inspection forms and work orders.Work with and maintain confidential information.Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESPrinciples and methods of management, training, and employee development.Understand and apply Federal, State, and local laws, rules, codes, and regulations related to assigned activities.WISHA OSHA Standards related to facility maintenance, including PPE.Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to lead a team to project activities to meet project requirements.Understand and follow guidelines for safe handling and disposal of toxic and/or caustic chemicals, pesticides, and other hazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens.Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used for building and grounds maintenance and repairPlan and schedule the work of a facilities shop for optimum production.Manage, train, and counsel others.Coordinate work and activities of others.Read and interpret work plans, blueprints, schematics, operations, and service manuals.React quickly and calmly in emergency situations and adopt an effective course of action within established guidelines.Prioritize diverse assignments and conflicting demands.Write clear, concise reports and other documentation.Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Work as a team member and independently; Must possess a valid driver’s license.LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTSMust obtain and maintain the following licenses and certifications for continued employment at BFT:First Aid and CPR certification; or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment.Forklift Certification, or ability to obtain within 180-days of employmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate Degree in Business Management, Public Administration or related field from an accredited institution or four-years of progressively responsible relevant experience.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSFrequently stand and walk for extended periods; lift and carry parts, tools, and equipment; push/pull or forcibly moving heavy parts and equipment. Frequently use hands; extend arms and use upper extremities, finger dexterity and hand strength to reach, pick, pinch and grasp tools and controls and/or to feel the attributes of objects by touch. Occasionally lift, push/pull, or carry up to 50 pounds. Frequently ascends/descends stairs, ladders, and inclines while maintaining balance; bends/twists at knees, waist, neck, and wrists while performing repairs and maintenance. Occasionally kneels, crouches, and crawls. Visual acuity to inspect and operate equipment and vehicles.WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed both inside and outside in various weather conditions with exposure to extreme heat and cold. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, constant loud noises and vibrations; fumes, odors, dusts, and toxic and/or caustic solvents and chemicals, poor ventilation, inadequate lighting and confined spaces; exposure to electrical energy. May be exposed to bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
