Job Description
Overview
The Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and Biological Science Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks for an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position working on projects associated with biological applications of high-throughput single-cell and spatial proteomics.
PNNL is a leading institution on single-cell and spatial proteomics (Zhu et al. Nature Comm. 2018, 882; Zhu et al. Elife, 2019, e50777; Piehowski, et al. Nature Comm. 2020, 8; Woo et al. . Nature Comm. 2021, 6246). PNNL is also part of multiple NIH-funded consortiums focused on celllular-scale multiomics tissue mapping.
Responsibilities
The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and apply cutting-edge microfluidics and mass spectrometry technologies developed in PNNL to profile the proteome of extremely small-samples (e.g. laser-microdissected tissues and single cells). The candidate will use these methodologies to uncover complex biological systems occurring during the development of the lung, as well as the tumor microenvironment. The candidate will be responsible for research design, sample preparation, LC-MS method optimization, and data analysis. The candidate will join a highly collaborative environment and project team with diverse expertise.
The candidate should have a record of accomplishment in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, and relevant chemistry or biology areas. The candidate should have experience in technologies and applications of proteomics or single-cell omics (e.g. single-cell RNA-seq). The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, think critically, operate productively in a fast-paced academic environment is required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Computational Biology or related field.
