Job Description : Student Success NavigatorPriority consideration date: open until filledThe PositionPeninsula College is recruiting for a full-time Student Success Navigator. The successful candidate for this position will participate as a key team member in the continued development and implementation of the campus-wide Guided Pathways strategic priority. The Student Success Navigator will serve as an Area of Study team-lead for one or more Areas of Study.The CollegeLocated in the northwest corner of the United States, Peninsula College is nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. The main campus in Port Angeles, Washington, overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the nearby city of Victoria, British Columbia, and has easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Olympic National Park, and Seattle. Click here for a video about Peninsula College.Essential FunctionsAssists students with class scheduling.Provides career information.Provides general college information.Provides referral services to a counselor when appropriate.Advises new/prospective students of requirements for academic transfer and professional/technical programs and/or degrees.Coordinates and promotes special events, i.e., orientations, outreach, etc.Coordinates on-line advising related services for students, faculty, and staff.Conducts advisor information sessions as needed.Provides transfer information to students.Conducts new student orientations.Represents the college at community educational and outreach events.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, skills, and abilitiesWork independently and in teams while maintaining professionalism and modeling the colleges Guiding Principles.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and to communicate clearly with native and non-native English speakers.Knowledge/Experience with student success technology platforms (i.e., PeopleSoft, Banner, Navigate, Starfish).Possess a working knowledge of a variety of computer software programs including word processing and spreadsheets.Required previous experienceExperience in academic and/or career planning/advising.Experience working with diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.Physical requirementsRequires sitting, keyboarding, or standing for extended periods of time.Work schedule and environmentMay work remotely at times, at discretion of supervisor.Office setting, periodically working remotely with supervisor approval is possible.Work schedule Monday-Friday generally within the 8 am – 5 pm time frame.Some evenings and weekends may be required.Required education or certificatesBachelor’s degree.Employment TermsAnnual full time, exempt position.Starting salary: $ 49,440.Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; retirement plan options; optional credit union and tax-deferred annuity programs. Peninsula College contributes $936.00 per month towards the cost of the Washington State employee insurance programs. The college also supports professional development.Peninsula College is a qualified employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
