The New Jersey Judiciary Office of Probation Services, Child Support Intergovernmental Central Registry Unit, is seeking an individual with excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational awareness, reasoning, and technical skills. Under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor, the appointee will serve as a liaison between the central office and the 15 vicinage Probation/Family divisions by providing guidance to Judiciary managers, supervisors, and probation officers on a statewide level, regarding complex case processing matters related to Intergovernmental and International case processing. The selected candidate will be expected to work well in a dynamic team atmosphere.
Note: This position may qualify for up to 1 day of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings based on position. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. This program does not supersede the “New Jersey First Act”, which requires newly hired Judiciary employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Effective February 1, 2022, the New Jersey Judiciary will require all state court judges and staff to provide to Human Resources either (1) proof of initial vaccination and booster against COVID-19 once eligible to receive the booster; or (2) results of weekly tests for COVID-19. This information is maintained in a secure Judiciary application that is accessible only by a limited group of Human Resources staff.
Example of Duties
Access an electronic worklist available in NJKIDS to create pre-order cases in an automated manner.
Receive petitions for child support and alimony services from other states, tribes and foreign countries, review completeness and forward to vicinage offices for next required actions.
Prepare correspondence that explains to a filing agency why the petition submitted was deficient and provide recommendations to remedy the issue.
Review cases and ensure compliance with the regulations under the Hague Child Support Convention, Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA), New Jersey Court rules, policies and other standards have been utilized correctly.
Apply statutes, court rules, and policies.
Review case information by accessing various systems in order to make logical inferences to determine whether or not a party to the action is new or already known to our Child Support and Family Practice database.
Research and verify case history by accessing FACTS and NJKIDS to determine where to forward the new request based on information gathered on the residency of the Respondent or other factors relating to the question of venue as a result of prior court appearances.
Research and verify demographic information used to accurately identify or locate a case participant.
Screen cases for confidential Federal Tax Information and take proper safeguards prior to releasing this information to a Vicinage.
Participate on Child Support committees, meetings, multi-agency working groups and projects as required.
Maintain a record of statistical information to be utilized by management for reporting and analytical purposes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: Although this position is located in the Administrative Office of the Courts (Trenton, NJ), travel to other Judiciary locations may be required.
Qualifications
One year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.

Testing: Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute, or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below.

The appointing authority administered examination is waived for the following applicants who have been deemed to possess keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of 25 words per minute:
All applicants who possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission or the New Jersey Judiciary.
Judiciary staff that have permanent status in a career service title requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
Judiciary staff in unclassified titles requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
Supplemental Information
Driver’s License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act,” all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Terms and conditions of employment will be governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Salary Note: For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
Maximum Salary Note: Maximum Salary A is for Judiciary employees hired prior to August 21, 2014 and Maximum Salary B is for newly hired individuals or Judiciary employees hired on or after August 21, 2014.
