Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Surgical Representative for the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates (RHUDA) within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Under general supervision, the Surgical Representative carries out a variety of front desk services related to cash collection. Serves as a liaison for the doctors and patients in providing guidelines on insurance and athorizations. Provides financial planning and services to patients and doctors to facilitate the scheduling and performance of clinical procedures. Supports patients and doctors with paperwork and documentation required.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Registers patients presenting for treatment at the Rutgers Health University Dental Associates.
Reviews surgical procedures with doctor to make CPT and ICD coding recommendations.
Coordinates and assists in scheduling the operating room for dental procedures performed at affiliated hospitals.
Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and obtain pre-authorization, if required.
Explains to patients about operating room procedures as well as pre-admission testing requirements, appointments, cancellation procedures, deposits and payments.
Utilizes HCPCs codes to secure authorization for nutritional supplements, medications, or other items, deemed medically necessary, for an effective recovery for the patient.
Maintains awareness of various HMOs, commercial PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid HMOs, Workers Compensation/no fault insurance carrier restrictions.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
One (1) year of related experience.
Five (5) years of experience performing a full range of clerical support services that includes medical terminology.
