Position Summary:

We are seeking a leader who will continue to innovate and advance our technology capabilities in support of our live events across our leagues embracing our departmental mission: Drive innovation through technology to empower our colleagues, delight our fans and safeguard our brand.
You will lead technology planning, execution and operations in support of live events for the NBA and affiliate leagues globally. This includes leading an IT Events Team comprised of cross-functional specialists from Infrastructure & Operations, Cybersecurity, Arena/Game Technology and Customer Experience. You will partner with staff across multiple departments and coordinate with vendors to synthesize technology needs and ensure the successful delivery of events.
Domestic and international travel is required for this position.
Major Responsibilities:
Work with event staff across departments to gather technology requirements
Participate in cross-department event planning and status meetings to provide IT updates and perspectives
Lead weekly IT Events Team planning meetings; develop detailed event plans, staffing plans, tasks and timelines, track progress and manage risks and issues
Develop event budgets, monthly cost projections, and complete post-event budget close-outs; relentlessly pursue opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency
Procure vendors for events support, review and negotiate vendor contracts and pricing, facilitate purchase orders, vendor SOW’s and validate vendor invoices
Participate in on-site venue and hotel surveys, coordinating with venue and hotel IT staff for walk throughs and discussion of detailed specifications
Develop and present executive summaries for each event
Provide on-site program management, coordination and execution of all event logistics across multiple venues and hotels
Function as lead project manager at a specific venue in addition to overall program management of the event operations
Coordinate on-site daily status meetings with IT Events Team to set priorities, review progress, discuss issues and align on next steps
Provide daily update communication to leaders and execs
Conduct post-event retrospectives identifying areas of improvement for future events
Required Skills/Knowledge:
5+ years technical program management and operations experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff, vendors and other stakeholders
Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders at various levels across the organization
Experience in leading/managing technology operations of a live event
Knowledge of IT infrastructure and setup for events at arenas, convention centers, and hotels
Vendor management and contract review and negotiation for IT related products and services
Focus on innovation, process improvement and cost savings
Familiarity with setting and executing against budgets
Team player and should be ready to go above and beyond to help immediate team and not be averse to asking for help if needed
Education:
BS/BA or greater or equivalent on the job experience
