Job Description : THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Laboratories, is looking for an individual to perform activities including sample analyses, quality assurance and control measures, method development and internal audits in the Organic Radiation and Biological Services Division. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This professional laboratory position is responsible for analyzing samples for the presence of environmentally significant analytes using accepted methods. The employee performs sample receiving functions on a routine basis; organizes and logs samples; logs and calculates data; analyzes samples using chromatography; conducts maintenance and repairs of instruments; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of an LCMSMS system; performs quality assurance and quality control measures using certified analytical standards/reagents; conducts internal audits of other staff’s data; develops methods for implementation of EPA methods; complies with all lab safety protocols; provides training to other analysts etc.

Work Hours and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Work hours 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday with a 30 minute lunch period.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – One year as a Chemist 1; OR one year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor’s degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; OR a graduate degree in chemistry.
