Job Description : 1.0-1 TELECOMMUNICATOR JOB DESCRIPTION Effective: April 26th2021JOB SUMMARYResponsible to the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners and 9-1-1 Center administration for supporting the 9-1-1 mission. Receive calls from the public for assistance, dispatch and coordinate responses of public safety agencies.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: NoneSUPERVISION RECEIVED: Shift Supervisor/Acting SupervisorRESPONSIBILITIES: Complies with the responsibilities, rules, and procedures described by the Board of Commissioners.Updates knowledge of present and projected role of the 9-1-1 Center.Works as a member of the 9-1-1 team.Will assist in tasks necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the 9-1-1 Center.Receives calls from the public and accurately assigns their request for police, fire, emergency medical units and other allied public safety resources.Dispatch appropriate units and resources to police, fire emergency medical units and other allied public safety agencies.Provide timely communications and coordinating of public safety incidents.Accurate and timely utilization of 9-1-1 Center CAD for complaint taking, location verification, unit dispatching, and coordinating of public safety incidents.Transmission and retrieval of information through the Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) network.Accurate recording of information on all Call for Service requests as dictated by operational policies and procedures.Assist in training of new Telecommunicators as assigned.Maintains work and equipment. Reports all trouble to the Shift/Acting Supervisor.Keeps work area in clean condition.Performs duties as assigned.1.0-1 TELECOMMUNICATOR JOB DESCRIPTION (cont’d)ABILITIES: Dependability – attendance and punctual.Accuracy in work.Ability to follow instructions.Ability to work closely and harmoniously with others.Perform tactfully and proficiently under stress.Clear and understandable phone and radio voice.Perform in any dispatching capacity associated with the Dispatcher Center.TRAINING: Forty – (40) hour Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) and/or Trumbull County 9-1-1 in house training.PowerPhone EMD training.Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) Certification.State of Ohio continued education training (yearly).KNOWLEDGE: Public Safety dispatch operations, policies, and procedures.County geopolitical characteristics.Equipment within the 9-1-1 Center.OTHER: No Record of criminal conviction.Physically capable of handling duties.Availability for shift work.Flexibility for overtime assignments.Recommendation of the 9-1-1 Center Director and/or Operations Manager, and approval of the County Board of Commissioners.The duties and responsibilities included in this description are not to be all-inclusive, and Telecommunicators will be expected to perform other reasonably job related duties as assigned by the management.
