Job Description : POSITION SUMMARY The Managing Director, Marketing and Communications (MarCom), oversees the strategy to build brand awareness and support for Battelle for Kids (BFK) and our offerings among current/prospective clients/members, partners, and funders. Additionally, the Managing Director oversees the delivery of marketing, communications, and design services to support client/members’ efforts to make 21st century learning a reality for every student.RESPONSIBILITIESLeads the development and implementation of organizational MarCom strategy, including brand integrity, thought leadership, key messaging, campaigns, print, web, video, social media, associated budgets, and impact measures.Directly supervises the MarCom team, including the hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and professional growth of MarCom team members.Ensure all marketing and communications related to products, services, and overall brand messaging align to brand identityProvides oversight and feedback to ensure graphic design standards are coherent, aligned to the brand, and carried through all BFK materials and platformsSupports business development and integrates MarCom services as part of proposals (RFPs)to grow work with current/prospective clients/members.Tracks the ROI and effectiveness of all BFK marketing and communication efforts. Reports on these analytics and recommend changes to increase effectiveness.Analyzes market research to inform messaging, product and services development, and marketing strategyKeeps current with education, MarCom-specific research, trends, and techniques.Supports the internal communications strategies and channels within and across teams.Other duties as assigned.Minimal travel is expected (up to 10%).KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Strong written and oral communicator. Adaptable, analytical, creative, and skilled problem solver. A positive manager who grows the leadership skills and strengths of others to contribute to a team environment. Organized, self-directed advisor—committed to ensuring that implementation is high quality, on time, and on budget. Exceptional relationship builder, collaborator and communicator with colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and partners. Adept with the use of various mass email, marketing, and social media platforms to support implementation.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience with at least three years of experience managing a team of direct reports.
