The Major Gifts Officer is an essential forward-facing member of the Cincinnati Ballet Development team. They work in close collaboration with the Vice President of Philanthropy to develop, solicit, and execute development strategies. The Major Gifts Officer serves as the primary relationship manager of an assigned portfolio of Cincinnati Ballet’s individual donors and business partners.This position requires an experienced relationship builder who has demonstrated talents in major gifts and legacy fundraising. Cincinnati Ballet is seeking first-rate communication skills, an exceptional level of attention to detail coupled with the ability to be adaptable, work independently and collaboratively. A background in the arts sector is preferred.ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Steward and solicit contributions in support of Cincinnati Ballet’s mission and vision.Committed to meeting or exceeding fundraising goals within assigned portfolio of donors capable of contributing $5,000 or greater.Discover and connect with prospective and existing donors to align passions with a variety of Cincinnati Ballet funding priorities, for example: signature events, education initiatives, world-premiere ballets, endowment, production sponsorships, and legacy giving.Partner with Vice President of Philanthropy to institute and develop a formalized legacy giving program.Collaborate with board volunteers, artistic team, and other senior leaders to achieve fundraising goals.Inspire and support Cincinnati Ballet committees and teams to activate by preparing research assessments, assisting with meeting preparation, creation of materials, and ongoing communication.Represent Cincinnati Ballet in all interactions with donors, patrons and community members including productions, networking events, and professional public appearances.Maintain donor records by contributing to procedures that ensure accurate and timely GIFTS processing, records management, and donor acknowledgements in the Tessitura database.Participate in special projects and additional duties considered applicable.KEY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years effective practice in philanthropy.Skilled relationship builder with demonstrated solicitation experience closing GIFTSs of $5,000 or greater.Ability to remain adaptable and work in an evolving and creative workplace.Comfortable presenting to and meeting with individuals, business leaders and decision makers.Leader with a positive and proactive customer service mindset.Able to establish and manage multiple time sensitive priorities.Superb verbal, written and presentation skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as general email and phone etiquette.Responsive and resourceful.Capacity to work a varying schedule including frequent weekends and evenings.Experience with Tessitura database or a donor database preferred.Passion for dance is a plus.Knowledge of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky is a plus.ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this position, candidates must be willing to complete a background checkEXPECTED WORK HOURS AND TRAVEL: Travel as appropriate to complete job tasksOTHER DUTIES: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
