General Description and Classification Standards
This position is the first point of contact with our public and must provide exceptional customer service on behalf of the Atlanta City Council. The ideal candidate provides best in class customer service to all customers (internal and external) who either call or enter the office; approaches customers courteously, conversationally, and immediately – with a smile. Candidate must be able to quickly assess and identify the needs of the customer through probing and listening. This is a fast-paced public-facing opportunity that ensures our department standards are maintained through consistent efforts. Candidate must be able to work in a team-centered environment yet have the ability to function independently and have strong people and customer service skills. The position also serves as the initial liaison between citizens and City Council Direct’s offices. Candidate will receive, process, and distribute department mail daily. The incumbent must embrace, support, and promote the City’s core values, beliefs, and culture. Carries out special projects of an administrative or office operations nature. Attends staff and other meetings as required.
Supervision Received Works under general supervision.

Greets customers in a friendly, kind, and helpful manner.
Promptly answers phone calls, emails, and other correspondence within the Office of City Council and accurately direct guests appropriately
Assists with customers who are seeking information related to City Council.
Receives, responds, and provides the outcome to complaints from customers.
Demonstrates excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
Receives, processes, and distributes departmental mail.
Schedules and confirms City Council conference rooms and other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
1-3 years’ of progressively responsible secretarial, clerical or general administrative experience are required.

Preferred Education & Experience
3-5 years of customer service or general administrative experience preferred.
Licensures and Certifications
None required.
Essential Capabilities and Work Environment
