Job Description : General DescriptionEcoPlan Associates, Inc., (EcoPlan) an environmental consulting firm, is seeking a full-time wildlife biologist to join our team of experienced and motivated professionals in our Mesa and Tucson, Arizona offices.We are looking for individuals to conduct biological projects based out of our Mesa and Tucson offices for small projects throughout Arizona. Potential projects will consist of Arizona federally protected and state special status species surveys (avian, herpetofauna, mammals, plants and others), habitat evaluations, native plant identification and inventory, native plant mitigation monitoring, construction monitoring, environmental awareness training, and photo documentation of natural habitats and developed areas.The biologist is expected to competently conduct field work compliant with state and federal permits held by EcoPlan and regularly contribute (as primary and co-auther) to the writing and editing of survey, research, and monitoring reports. Responsibilities may also include directing additional field staff.This is a full-time, position that comes with benefits, including paid vacation and paid personal time, a comprehensive medical/vision/dental healthcare plan, and a retirement plan. Remote work is available, but this position does require travel for projects, as necessary. Compensation is commensurate with capabilities and experience. Position pays $28-$34/hour depending on if preferred qualifications are met.Requirements-Undergraduate degree specializing in wildlife sciences or a closely related field;-wildlife / biological experience in the Southwest;-An understanding of the ESA and MBTA regulations;-Ability to read and understand maps and prepare legible field notes and data sheets,-Ability to prepare grammatically correct written reports and understand basic statistical analysis-Minimum field experience of two years;-Willingness to travel locally and regionally; andA valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.Preferred Qualifications-Experience conducting surveys for one or more of the following species southwestern willow flycatcher, yellow-billed cuckoo, Mexican spotted owl, desert tortoise, and burrowing owl;-Graduate degree specializing in wildlife sciences or a closely related field;-Familiarity with permitting procedures of various Arizona State and federal agencies;-Demonstrated report writing experience;-Strong research and analysis skills; and-GIS experience.Other ResponsibilitiesThe position also requires the regular use of Trimble GPS, and office-based data processing. Flexibility and willingness to travel, and travel frequently (locally, within an hour of Tucson or Mesa, and statewide occasionally) is expected. The positions also require the ability to work outdoors in various types of weather. Sufficient physical endurance to conduct field investigations in remote and challenging environments, and the ability to carry some equipment. This includes maintenance and responsible use of all EcoPlan-owned and rented equipment. The positions require the ability to process field data in accordance with EcoPlan standards. The wildlife biologist is expected to comply with EcoPlan company policies.EcoPlan is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
