Summary Analyzes performance and instructs professional baseball pitchers in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for pro baseball competition. Pitching coach will prepare professional baseball pitchers including but not limited to pre-game instruction, in-game execution, and post-game review.
Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain organizational development plans for each pitcher set by front office, rovers, and field staff.
Lead detailed and comprehensive discussions with players related to their prescribed development focuses in a digestible, and actionable manner.
Communicate and develop with Director – Pitching Development and other pitching leadership on internal player development tools, as it relates to developing pitchers.
Complete professional reports on pitchers in a timely manner that capture a detailed account of both in-game performance and developmental focuses in training.
Communicate effectively with other affiliate staff and rovers regarding the execution and sometimes design of data-driven player plans.
Maintain high, positive standards and expectations of pitching and teamwork for self and players
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Withstand a demanding/required travel schedule, via bus or air, in-season, with assigned minor league team
Travel is regularly required on game day and can result in extremely long work days.
Able to demonstrate (verbal / non-verbal) expertise in pitching techniques
High competence in Microsoft Office applications, Confluence, and Slack.
Proficiency with various pitching development tools including but not limited to; ball tracking technology, high speed video cameras and biomechanics reports/movement screens is preferred.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some college preferred
Three years of successful baseball related coaching and/or playing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to recognize and decipher situations that require immediate attention as noted in the MBBC minor league player handbook referring to organizational policy.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Spanish and English speaking preferred.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The Minor League season requires that a coach work minor league Spring Training camp and approx. 15 games, Regular Season (144 games) and, if assigned, Instructional League Camp (and approx. 20 games). Physical stamina required to be actively on the field at all games and practices, in heat and cold, and varying weather conditions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, run, throw baseballs (batting practice, and hit fungoes), sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including heat, cold and various forms for precipitation. Inside working conditions may include confined areas (batting cages). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Work Hours
Work hours will vary dramatically with the game and travel schedule.
