We Are Seeking

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Recreation Specialist at Freestone Recreation Center.

Freestone Recreation Center, located at 1141 E Guadalupe Road, hours for this position will be Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 am – 8 pm, Friday, 8:30 am – 6 pm, and Saturday, 7 am – 2:30 pm.

The Recreation Specialist reports to the Recreation Coordinator. The primary function of this position is to plan and implement facility programs and events to include preparing activities and curriculum, purchasing supplies, staffing, overseeing contract instructors and vendors, marketing, and evaluating programs and events. The Recreation Specialist is the manager on duty to include enforcement of policies and procedures, responding to emergency situations, and securing the facility. Customer service to include fielding questions and resolving conflicts with internal and external customers by answering customer inquiries by phone, in writing and in person, and processing program registrations. Manage facility reservations by training staff on rental procedures, reviewing permits, conducting facility tours, fielding customer inquiries, processing reservations, collecting payments, staffing reservations, and confirmations, and resolving reservation issues. This position will also oversee assigned staff to include scheduling and training staff and resolving conflicts.

You are someone who effectively exceeds customer needs by building productive relationships and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty. You actively participate as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals and produce quality outcomes. You are committed to our safety philosophy, and you take great pride in proactively managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently while accomplishing objectives and achieving goals beyond what is required.

At Team Gilbert, we hire innovative, forward-thinking problem-solvers who love what they do! In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements
Associate’s degree in recreation or a related field or equivalent experience in recreation
Two years of customer service experience
Two years of supervisory experience, including program oversight, in a recreation setting
One year of marketing, cash handling, and clerical experience
Knowledge of planning, implementing, maintaining and evaluation or recreation classes, programs, and events
Knowledge of contract employee management as well as supervisory principles, practices, and techniques
Valid Arizona Driver’s License
Skill in Microsoft Office
Skill in management and conflict resolution and emergency response
Skill in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
