Job Description : Cancer RegistrarRemote positionGood Samaritan Hospital is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health. With almost 900 physicians on staff, and a level II Trauma Center, we care for well over 100,000 patients annually across the south shore of Long Island. Our reputation for excellence is built on great choices and empowered leadership, and fosters a team that’s focused on evidence based practice, continual learning and exceptional quality of care.The Cancer Registrar is responsible for abstracting and obtaining follow-up information from physician offices on all patients that are diagnosed and/or treatment at our facility. Responsibilities also include preparing cases for cancer conference as well as all aspects of coordination of this conference. Assists cancer registry supervisor with other duties as needed.Responsibilities:Abstracts cancer cases accurately in a timely and productive mannerPerforms work according to established policies and procedures, and completes work within requested time frames.Assists in performing follow-up on cancer cases.Demonstrates competence in use of Cancer Registry, Laboratory and Hospital Information system software as required for departmental use.Responds to telephone information requests with courtesy and accuracy.Promotes positive customer service by effectively interacting with peers, managers, medical staff, patients and guest with care, compassion and respect.Requirements:2010 forward candidates must have Associates Degree and completion of NCRA formal education programCertified Tumor Registrar (CTR)Ability to multi task, strong telephone skillsAlpha Numeric-5000 Keystrokes per hour required.
