Patient Registrar – Emergency Room – Per Deim
The Emergency Room Patient Registrars are responsible for greeting and registering the patient in a tactful and courteous manner. They obtain all pertinent patient demographics, insurance information and regulatory signatures. These are critical data points that enable correct billing and timely payment to the hospital; as well as, clinical staff with pertinent patient information. (i.e. pharmacy). In addition, the registrars have begun photo capture and MyChart sign-up in an effort to increase patient safety. The registrars collect payments for deductibles and copayments.
In the emergency room, the Patient Registrars cover three points of entry, the walk-ins and two ambulance bays. In addition, there are five areas where patients are located, that registration needs to cover to follow up with patients after quick registrations.
This a per diem day position (at least 4 shifts per month, weekend and holidays included) located at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Preferred Criteria
Some college
Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
Required Criteria
High School diploma or GED
One year of clerical experience
