Description:
Supports the government and community affairs team across all ten Hospital campuses. Responsible for researching, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating federal, state and local legislative and regulatory issues and their impact on the Hospital. Reporting to and advising the Director of Government Relations within the office of Government and Community Affairs on recommended advocacy on behalf of the Hospital and prepare lobbying and advocacy materials at the city, state and federal levels. Represents the Hospital in external meetings and other public-facing forums.
Essential Job Duties
Monitors and evaluates city, state and federal legislative and regulatory activities and helps develop Hospital positions.
Conducts background research and impact analyses on various legislative and regulatory issues impacting the Hospital.
Drafts factsheets, testimony, and letters explaining the Hospital’s position on pending policy actions.
Prepares briefings, presentations and other materials to educate staff on healthcare-related policy and other political issues, including elections.
Represents NYP with external partners, including hospital and health care trade associations, other coalitions, and at community board meetings.
Works with VP and Director in liaising between the Hospital and appropriate public officials, advocacy agencies and leaders, attends and schedules meetings for Hospital officials, conveying information concerning Hospital affairs and community programs.
Maintains database updates for tracking interactions with elected officials and community leaders.
Identifies potential sources of governmental financial support for Hospital purposes and program development.
Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as needed.
Required Criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree
3 + years of relevant experience
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
