Job Description : Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) exists to break the cycle of poverty and inequity through education, job training, and employment. OBT’s programs operate out of multiple locations and serve as a bridge to economic opportunity for youth, individuals, and families in underserved communities. Through various sector-based pathways, we offer programming that extends from high school equivalency programming to industry-certified training. OBT is funded through a mixture of government contracts, corporate and foundation grants, and private contributions. The program was designed to help further the career of this population of youth through comprehensive High School Equivalency (HSE) test preparation, employer-recognized trainings, credentials and certifications, and paid internships offerings.The Program Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and oversight of the Advance & Earn programmatic activities and will provide leadership and supervision to the interdisciplinary team.To ApplyAs expressed interest in the role, please forward your cover letter and resume via this link: https://obtjobs.typeform.com/to/WlrBXA. Enter position code 8HMK2 when prompted.Essential Responsibilities and Duties Oversee 4 primary processes: (1) participant recruitment and placement, (2) team and program management, (3) grant management and fiscal oversight, and (4) liaising with partners to ensure program success.Participant Recruitment and Placement: · Collaborate with the Director, Communications & Partnerships to develop and implement programmatic recruitment strategies.· Recruit program participants using appropriate promotional and marketing methods, such as presentations to community-based organizations, individual student outreach, social media, etc.· Implement a robust intake process for all levels of programming.Team and Program Management: · Supervise, coach and develop a team to provide quality service in fast paced, outcome oriented programming.· Deliver on an interdisciplinary program model that combines academic skills building, workforce development, youth development, and technical skills training.· Develop systems for quality improvement and data informed programming; including ensuring fidelity of program implementation.· Maintain and exceed programmatic goals for the program contract.· Tackle operational challenges (e.g. trouble shooting facilities challenges, maintaining and submitting site related compliance documentation)· Attend to and build a team culture that supports the organization’s mission and values.Grant Management and Fiscal Oversight: · Manage grant and ensure all contract deliverables are met and correctly reported to the appropriate funding partners.· Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to manage programmatic budget.Liaise with partners to ensure program success: · Create intentional opportunities to assess referral relationships, including soliciting feedback and improving processes related to recruitment and enrollment.· Cultivate and manage institutional partnerships, including day-to-day communication and collaboration.· Collaborate with OBT’s employment team to establish a system for communication, data sharing, and feedback loops to inform program improvements.· Act as liaison with both government and private funders, as well as community partners.· Leverage and deepen relationships at Industry City and other workforce hubs in Brooklyn.· Support and coordinate any evaluation activities and work with internal/external personnel as needed.Requirements – Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills · Possess a passion for working with Opportunity Youth.· Demonstrated success in leading and developing staff.· Ability to manage, delegate, and prioritize tasks in a fast paced setting.· Development of programmatic systems.· Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.· Possess a deep understanding of the labor market and ability to utilize this to inform program design.Education and Experience· Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred.· Minimum on 5 years of relevant work experience; experience in workforce programs, preferred.· Experience engaging in and building relationships with varied stakeholders including young adults, employers, and community partners.· Knowledge of or experience with/career pathways.Why You Should Join Us· Salary: $70k – 76k + full benefits· We are a passionate and motivated staff excited to propel NYC’s young adult communitiesWe value the diversity of the people we hire.
