Job Description : Assistant Counselor
Co-Op Summer Enrichment is a summer program for low income children that emphasizes STEM enrichment alongside camp programming that infuses the joy of summer into all that we do. Are you looking for a fun summer job? Do you also want to make a difference? Join us at Co-Op Camp! We are hiring team members who are eager to be a part of a program that emphasizes STEM learning, mentoring connections, and summer fun!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a co-leader of a dedicated group of children for a five-week program that serves elementary children grades 1 to 5
Assist children to maximize their participation in STEM and recreation activities led by educators and recreation assistant coaches
Supervise and assist children in all of their activities with the goals of:
Promoting collaboration among children & staff
Establishing a mutual attitude of caring among all children & staff
Assisting children with acquiring new skills during their program blocks
Infusing all activities with fun
Participate fully and with enthusiasm in all orientation week training sessions.
Serve as a role model for children by:
Arriving on time and being fully ready to participate
Working as a team member with other counselors, educators and staff
Taking joy in learning new things with the children
Supporting a drug free, screen free, healthy environment
Close each day organizing and restocking your assigned activity room
Teach or assist during program blocks in a variety of areas such as crafts, nature, science, sports and recreation
Assist the educator with packing materials at the close of day and week such that the materials are ready for the next day or the next pod
Swim with children and provide direct swimming instruction based upon training guidelines
Eat lunch with your assigned group, supervise their behavior in the lunchroom and promote positive free and safe play during recess
Model and enforce all Covid safety requirements at all times
Enforce the highest level of safety for children at all times, including COVID safety protocols
REQUIREMENTS
Assistant Counselors must be at least 16 years old by July 1, 2022
Social security card and working papers (working papers are obtained at your high school)
Fingerprinting for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee or any new employee (previously fingerprinted Co-Op counselors do not need to be fingerprinted again)
High swimming competency
Two professional or personal (non-family) references
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (Including Booster)

REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:
June 27, 2022 to August 5, 2022
8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday (weekly staff Meeting)
all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
SALARY
Base Salary – $1,200
Performance Bonus – up to $125
Re-signing Bonus – $100
for previous Co-Op Counselors if application is submitted before April 1, 2022
Base Salary paid bi-monthly in July and August (3 payments total)
All bonus payments paid in the last salary check
