Position : Crisis Counselor

Job Description : Under the supervision of the Team Leader of the project hope crisis counseling program the requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for crisis counselor. Such employee will provide the crisis counseling activities as directed by the scope and supervisor. The employee ensures strengths based, person centered quality of care provided in a culturally and linguistically meaningful therapeutic environment. The functions below outline the general responsibilities associated with this position. Each of these functions is considered critical to effective department operations and our Mission. It is expected that all staff in this position will have satisfactory attendance and will perform these functions as assigned in a competent, cooperative, and timely manner. The Job Description will be reviewed periodically for accuracy and/or adjusted according to business necessity. The salary is $30.21/HR

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide direct coaching, education and advocacy in linking, engaging clients to get services through referrals in the community.
Completes all the required documentation in accordance with the project hope crisis counseling program policies expectations.
Uses crisis counselling program CP portals for data collection.
Participate and completes all required training as indicated by FEMA.
Works in the quality of an outreach worker with individuals, families, and groups to provide crisis counseling services either virtual or in-person that includes outreach, emotional support, individual and group crisis counseling, public education, and referrals when needed.
Work in the larger community with community organizations partners, schools to provide the scope of services of crisis counseling program.
Represents program in the community and networks with other agencies and partners to ensure needs of survivors are met.
Provides presentations rooted in best practices EBPs to community groups on disaster reactions, coping skills, stress management, and the Crisis Counseling Program.
Participate in schedule supervision.
Utilizes the mobile application to complete data forms as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
A High school diploma required. Associate preferred.General knowledge of organization, community and/or social service resources and programs.
Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-making
Most work is completed in community, with occasional work done in the office as indicated by supervisor.
Subject to outside environmental conditions while performing tasks associated with job functions.
Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
Must be able to multi task with strong organization sills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.
Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and operate with a keen sense of urgency and commitment to quality.
Bilingual – Spanish speaking a plus.
