Position : Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description : Capital Paving & Construction is looking to hire Heavy Equipment Operators for our heavy highway and bridge projects that will begin in April in the Southeast Colorado area. They are expected to assist in the general operation of each job site. These are full-time benefit eligible positions.RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner under varying weather conditions, while exposed to dampness, fumes, dust, electrical, mechanical and traffic hazardsOperate one or more of the following pieces of heavy construction equipment skillfully, safely, and in accordance with traffic laws and regulations: scrapers, heavy graders, motor graders or blades, large trenchers, rock cutters, front end loaders (four cubic yards and over), heavy steel wheeled rollers, bulldozers and other light weight, medium weight, and heavy-duty equipmentRoutine maintenance on the equipment, to include keeping equipment clean and operableCommunicate with foreman and coworkers regarding the daily job specifications.Operate power driven machinery such as jack hammer, tamper, or other similarly sized equipment.Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessaryWork with powered and non-powered hand tools (i.e. rakes, shovels, etc.)Work in a variety of positions throughout the day including standing, stooping, bending at the waist, at waist level, shoulder height and above the headPerform general labor duties when necessaryREQUIREMENTSExperience in the operations of heavy equipmentMust be punctual, have a strong work ethic, and maintain a good attendance record.Must be able to work as a team on all projectsLift/move up to 50 lbs.Work outdoors in all weather conditionsWork overtime, nights, weekends, as neededStand for extended periods of timeReliable transportationWilling to travel/work out of townMust pass a pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol screen, and background checkThis is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
