Job Description : Bus Operator- Colorado Springs Transit Management Company, Inc.Job Summary: *PAID TRAINING FOR ANYONE THAT CARRIES A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE.*“Up to $2,000 New Hire Incentive Bonus!”PAID TRAINING $19.51 per hour!The Colorado Springs transit system is seeking dedicated, career-oriented individuals with a solid work ethic and a love for the open road. We will train the right candidates for their Class B CDL (Commercial Drivers License).If you carry a class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements training will be approximately 4 weeks. If you do not currently carry a CDL, training is approximately 6 weeks. Those applying who do not carry a current CDL must obtain a Commercial Learners Permit (CLP), to include air breaks and the passenger endorsement, prior to start date.Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities: · Operates various types of transit buses in accord with policies, directives and procedures and in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.· Maintains a working knowledge of current bus routes and stops within the service area as well as the current fare structure and bus pass programs.· Conducts self in an appropriate manner at all times, while working in a diverse environment, assuring a professional quality of service to all external and internal customers. This includes properly answering questions and solving transit related concerns of customers.· Aids customers with disabilities, including assistance in boarding and de-boarding, safely securing wheelchairs and announcing stops.· Inspects assigned transit bus for mechanical problems. This includes conducting an external/internal visual inspection of the transit bus and pre-testing all necessary equipment, operating/safety devices and transit bus controls for use while in service.· Ability to effectively communicate on all levels.· Completes reports accurately, timely and legibly.· Has sound decision-making and problem solving skills; visionary· Must have impeccable integrity and time-management skills· Performs various physical duties to successfully complete job responsibilities.
