Position : Emergency Veterinary Receptionist

Job Description : Animal Urgent Care has an immediate opening for an experienced emergency receptionist. We are a small (but mighty!) emergency hospital in West Arvada operating out of a beautiful facility. Our team is an incredibly unique mix of personalities, many of us “lifers” who love our practice, love our crew, and are proud of what we have created. All of the usual desciptors apply: great equipment, great clients, many dollars, yada yada. What makes us different? A few things: we are appreciated and celebrated as professionals and people. Our managers have created an in-house therapy program just for our team. Two days a week, we have a counselor on-site to talk to us about what’s tough right now. We also have a very democratic process for making changes to our hospital. Our feedback is sought out, valued, and often put into action. We are treated as individuals, not shoved into a box of “what has always been done.” The schedule is written with people, not robots, in mind. We are paid well, and we are compensated in many other ways, too. Our leadership team plays a supportive, not authoritative role in our worklives. In fact, they despise micro-managing, and celebrate our abilities to problem-solve creatively whenever the opportunity is presented. As would be expected, we are incredibly picky about who joins our family. The right person for us will possess resiliency, a passion for teamwork, a willingness to advance themselves professionally and personally, excellent emotional intelligence, a quirky sense of humor, and many more of the characteristics we find desirable. If you are interested in doing the things you love with a group who is easy to love, please reach out.Benefits and compensation are excellent and can be discussed in much greater detail.Summary: To provide excellent customer service via phone and face-to-face with clients coming to AUC for emergency treatment of their pets. The right candidate will possess superhuman communication skills and compassion. Veterinary experience is strongly preferred. We do not take appointments, so the ability to multi-task and organize is a crucial skillset in our hospital. This is truly the most difficult job in any veterinary clinic, and ours is no exception. We value our reception team members, and are picky about who is the point person in our day-to-day operation.Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Receptionist include, but are not limited, to the following activities:*Effectively triage patients in keeping with Animal Urgent Care’s standards* Conduct medical record keeping and client communication (particularly in regards to patient updates and referring veterinarian updates)* Knowledge of common medications (willing to train)* Discharge patients* Check patients in and out of the clinic, including taking payments and reviewing/entering charges in EzyVet softwareAll other duties as assigned.SHIFT: Negotiable, but some weekend hoursQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS*** Minimum 2 years experience in a receptionist position* Work experience in a fast-paced, multi-veterinarian hospital, emergency/referral practice or hospital* Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to building relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required* Understanding of estimates for different surgical procedures and in-patient estimates* Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected* Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds (work requires lifting, carrying, and restraining animals-with assistance from other staff for animals weighing over 50 pounds)Compensation and Benefits: Compensation is based on experience and skill level.
