Position : Transportation Manager
Job Description : White Line Systems is looking for a Transportation Manager to work our Denver Area Docks. This position oversees over 50 routes including line haul and final mile deliveries. Class A CDL is required.Reports to: Regional ManagerOverall Summary:The Transportation Manager is responsible for the management of the Transportation arm in the Denver Area. The Transportation Manager works in alliance with Transportation Team: AM and PM Traffic Coordinators, and Driver Leads, Drivers and Dock Workers to ensure all staffing and equipment needs are adequate and maintained.The Transportation Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager, and serves as the main recruiter to the team, and is always seeking to maintain sufficient staffing levels in terms of drivers and dock. In addition, the Transportation Manager is responsible for ensuring all driver and dock are scheduled and coordinated in correct roles each day, and communicated to in a timely manner regarding any changes. Transportation Manager insures all truck and equipment maintenance is scheduled and completed in a timely manner and within compliance.Essential duties and responsibilities:DailyReceives daily and nightly updates from Traffic Coordinators, and Driver Leads.Available for calls with the RM, and attends scheduled calls as needed.Receives issues, and documents each issue presented verbally or via e-mail; immediately communicates a plan of action to resolve each to his/her supervisor; and provides an hourly update for all major issues, and one final update for minor issues until each issue is resolvedWorks with the AM, and PM Traffic Coordinators, and Driver Leads to identify and determine staffing or equipment needsIdentifies any issues or gaps that would prohibit the ability to meet expectations, and communicate the reason(s) immediately to the Terminal ManagerAssists the AM, and PM Traffic Coordinators, and Driver Leads with any staffing needs, above or beyond, such as working with another staffing agencies or carrier to provide staffing or equipment.Receives an update from the AM/PM Manager, and any other parties to identify issues from the day/night beforeDocuments each issue presented verbally or via e-mail; immediately communicates a plan of action to resolve each to his/her supervisor; and provides an hourly update for all major issues, and one final update for minor issues until each issue is resolvedCompletes immediate communication, training; and/or provides backup staff, and communicates the resolution and/or plan until a resolution is confirmedEnsures the tracking of metrics by the AM, and PM Traffic Coordinators on the LQM Board (People: attendance and arrival times; Safety: accidents and equipment; Quality: scanning percentage and recycles; and Responsiveness: OTD; and Cost: damaged equipment and re-deliveries; and Layered Audits), and assists in processEnsures the Driver Lineup / Contingency Plans are in place prior to departure by the AM Traffic Coordinator, and Driver Leads.Ensures the equipment needs are in place prior to departure by Traffic Coordinators, and Driver Leads.Works with the AM Traffic Coordinator to provide a detailed daily recap to the PM Traffic Coordinator, and Driver Leads to utilize at nightResponsibility on all issues to ensure all are documented, resolved and all action plans and resolutions are communicated to his/her supervisor(s)AdditionallyRecruits, trains and motivates staffResponsible for driver’s schedules and policy changes: adjusts schedules time according to needPlans, organizes and manages the work of staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirementsManages work flowManages equipment, route and/or process changes, communicates and insures consensus with team.Maintains adequate staffing and equipment levels to support operationDevelops and implements Standard Operating Procedure on staffing processesMaintains an adequate supply of Driver Log Books, and provides to Driver Leads.Responsible for staying current on transportation regulationsEnsure staff is complying with the company rules, safety procedures, and government regulationsInvestigates vehicle and staffing accidents to determine causes, and to improve safety proceduresMonitors and controls transportation costsReport any major issues to supervisor immediatelyCompletes special projects, and works with other team members within and outside of the officeServes as the backup to all applicable Transportation PositionsDrives the company’s commitment to consistently meeting and exceeding the highest quality and service standardsPerforms other duties as requiredCompetitive pay, medical, dental, vision and 401k.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $75,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:10 hour shiftMonday to FridayNight shiftOn callExperience:Management: 2 years (Preferred)License/Certification:CDL A (Preferred)DOT Medical Card (Preferred)Work Location: One location
