Job Description : Primary PurposePlan, direct, and coordinate the human resource management activities of the organization to maximize the strategic use and support of its human resources.Possess the ability to understand and perform within the organizational structure of culture-based education (CBE) and family engagement through knowledge of and implementation of Hawaiian culture and dual language opportunities.Essential Duties / FunctionsAdminister compensation, benefits and performance management systems.Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants.Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.Perform staffing duties, including refereeing disputes and work-related problems, firing employees, administering disciplinary procedures, and conducting exit interviews.Advise managers and employees on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend changes as needed in personnel policies, procedures, and/or the employee handbook.Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to reflect competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitudes toward organizational objectives.Supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates relating to employment, payroll, employee communications or other assigned duties.Analyze and conduct/assist with training needs which support employee development, health, safety programs, and others.Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers.Represent organization at personnel-related hearings, meetings, and investigations.Oversee the development, evaluation, classification and rating of job positions.Administer special projects as directed by the Executive Director.Working ConditionsAir conditioned officeEquipment UsedAll normal business equipment, i.e., computer, phone, fax, copierMINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSSkills/Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, negotiation, and personnel information systems.Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, quality assurance methods, and coordination of people and resources.Effective training, leadership, and listening skills to promote team building.Strong oral and communication skills required to convey information effectively.Effective communications in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.Ability to bring others together to reconcile differences through effective negotiation.Strong computer skills related to administration of the payroll system, e-mail, and use of other company internal systems and programs.Knowledge of State and Federal laws and government regulations, and use of Hawaii Employer Council’s resources.Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures/systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to the interests and needs of families from low socio economic and Hawaiian backgrounds.Willingness to work as a productive and collaborative team member.Education/Training: BA/BS in Personnel, Human Resources, Business, Liberal Arts or related field, Masters Degree desirable.Experience: Three or more years of human resources experience in a comparable organization or employment setting.MENTAL, PHYSICAL and COMMUNICATION DEMANDSPhysical Demands: Oral and written communication ability and normal hearing with correction.Able to lift, maneuver and transport up to 40 poundsCommunication: In-home access to WIFI and Internet.This job requires in person face-to-face contact.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $60,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programHealth insurancePaid time offRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Human Resources: 3 years (Preferred)Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:Professional In Human Resources (Preferred)Work Location:One locationWork Remotely:Temporarily due to COVID-19Work Location: One location
