Our Office
The office of alumni relations is the official alumni entity of the University of Hawaii. We are part of the University of Hawaii Foundation, contracted by the University to be the sole provider of fundraising and alumni services. Our team is responsible for fostering connections and relationships between each of the 10 campuses and over 300K alumni and friends for the advancement of the University of Hawaii.
Our team is focused on providing lifelong value to our alumni by partnering closely with University leadership, schools and departments as well as local, regional and international alumni to develop meaningful programs that mobilize our alumni community, build pride and strengthen and sustain relationships.
Position Summary
As part of the University of Hawaii Foundation Office of Alumni Relations team, the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement Programs and Communication is responsible for providing support in building and maintaining relationships with alumni and the community.

Senior Executive Director of Alumni Relations
Essential Functions
Programming
Primary focus on advancing the University’s Alumni Engagement program and its associated communications plans and activities;
Support the implementation of outreach programs for alumni with the goal of building pride, providing professional education, and building alumni and community networks;
Serve as primary liaison to program partners and alumni volunteers/participants;
Work in close coordination with alumni communication and event team members to increase online content, social and business networking opportunities in liaison with the alumni communications team member
Assist with surveys and data collection for metrics and analysis
Communication:
Works closely with UH units and in collaboration with the associate director of alumni communications to execute email communication to various alumni groups
Manages email list requests
Ensures consistent communication to requesters regarding the proper usage of data, permitted email content and email communication guidelines
Assist in fine tuning of email content when necessary in order to protect the integrity of the UH Alumni image
Maintains positive working relationships with unit representatives and identifies opportunities for collaboration between units and the UH Office of Alumni Relations
Works in collaboration with the UHF communications team as appropriate
Assist in creating content for the UH Alumni website and social media platforms that align with overarching UH Alumni Relations goals
General:
Help to identify key alumni who may be influencers, prospects and/or donors. Develop engagement and stewardship strategies to connect them to the institution working closely with leadership and/or development staff at the appropriate time.
Cultivate an ethical and compassionate environment of accountability, collegiality, and teamwork to support the goals of the organization and create a sense of partnership between staff and volunteers.
Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned.
Evaluation
The Associate Director will meet annually with his/her supervisor to put in place a plan for the year. At the end of each year, the Associate Director and his/her supervisor will review the progress toward the annual goals.
Qualifications
An appreciation for and understanding of public higher education, and the ability to advance and communicate the University of Hawai`i’s distinctive identity and mission to external and internal constituencies, especially alumni.
Ability to plan and implement programmatic, organizational, financial strategies and goals.
Minimum of two to three years of successful experience in constituent engagement, alumni relations, communications or related field.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with management, peers, customers, and volunteers.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary, with a philosophy of teamwork and hands on implementation.
Ability to work collaboratively with various campus and UHF partners, volunteers, and constituent groups.
Project management skills are preferred.
This position at times requires evening and weekend work.
A passion for higher education, and the University of Hawai`i in particular.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Graduates of the University of Hawai`i are encouraged to apply.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Associate Director will work primarily in an office environment and will need to sit or stand for extended periods while either working at a computer, attending a meeting, or performing desk work for extended periods. Based at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, the Associate director may need to visit areas of the University campus, as well as locations in and around O‘ahu.
The Associate Director must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record or must have an acceptable mode of transportation. The Associate Director may need to work weekends or evenings or exceed a 40-hour work week to fulfill the demands of the position. The Associate director must be able and willing to travel interisland or nationally upon request.
