Job Description : CAMP K: TEEN COUNSELOR
Seasonal

Pay: $240 – $265/week

Just two hours South of Anchorage, our camp is located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula; where fishing, hiking, backpacking, climbing, and more are at your fingertips. Program Overview:
Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Co-ed Camp
Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on the Kenai Lake.
Dates: All Staff training begins in mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.
Time: Camp K offers several sessions throughout the summer ranging from 4 days to 9 days.
Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. Camp sessions range from 4 day/3 nights to 9 days/8 nights throughout the summer. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska summer
Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building; as well as horseback riding and river raft trips in nearby areas.
Positions Description:

The Teen Counselor is responsible for minute-to-minute supervision and guidance of a cabin group of older campers (ages 12+), working with other counselors and specialists to facilitate a variety of activities. As a Teen Counselor, you’ll have the opportunity to actively participate in leading, teaching, and/or assisting in all teen programming activities as well as in all program areas as needed, such as; swimming, boating, aquatics, target sports, games, etc. You’ll also gain valuable experience in planning, developing, and facilitating through the LIT Program that focuses on skill development, goal management, and adopting a growth mindset all while living on the premises of Camp K in the Chugach National Forest with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door!
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Prior experience in trip leading, leading outdoor activities, including lesson planning.
Prior experience working with teens, preferably in a residential camp setting.
Knowledge of Leave No Trace principles, outdoor leadership skills, and additional relevant resources.
Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider.
Experience working with diverse populations: multi-cultural, age, gender, etc.
Twenty-one (21) years of age required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles with ability to drive and maneuver 16 passenger vans and trailer in tow, is preferred.
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
