Job Description : The UAA College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is seeking a Social Media and Marketing Assistant to help tell the amazing stories of the CAS community. The Social Media and Marketing Assistant will work directly with the CAS Communications Specialist to develop creative digital content, write stories that capture the unique CAS environment, and work to bring a fresh perspective to CAS’ online presence. CAS is a broad and diverse College consisting of four divisions: fine arts, math and physical sciences, the humanities and social sciences. The College provides a broad-based education that prepares students for today and tomorrow.
Duties:
100Working with the CAS Communications Specialist, the Social Media and Marketing Assistant will: Create digital content for media distribution including photos, videos, stories/interviews, podcasts, writing stories, and more. Design promotional material for social media, CAS website pages, and other avenues of digital distribution. Identify different approaches to online content, campaigns, and reach, and create strategies to implement these approaches Assist the CAS Communications Specialist with CAS Communications and Marketing projects Pursue photographic and creative storytelling opportunities that feature everyone in the CAS community Attend CAS events, cataloging and photographing those participating and attending those events Perform other duties as assigned by CAS Communications Specialist, or other members of the CAS Dean’s Office. This can include website edits and/or design.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge of, and the ability to:

Knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, is required.
Experience working with design programs, like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, is required.
Communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, and in a timely manner.
Organize information, pay attention to the details, and prioritize projects
Follow instructions, work independently, exercise sound independent judgement, and communicate directly with supervisor.
Be available to work assigned hours with occasional weekend and evening hours.

Preferred KSAs:

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are strongly preferred for this position:

Experience with audio recording, live audio reinforcement, videography, photography, digital video editing
Working knowledge of making documents, websites, and other media ADA-accessible; knowledge of testing for accessibility; knowledge of universal design concepts.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants who have completed at least 12 college credits at UAA are preferred.

The Social Media and Marketing Assistant will report to the CAS Communications Specialist. This is an opportunity to work closely with the Dean’s office staff, to learn more about the College, and gain first-hand experience in Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications. This is a part-time position up to 20 hours/week while school is in session. Starting hourly rate is $10.50/hour.

To be eligible for student employment at UAA, each applicant must:

Be enrolled in a degree seeking program in the College of Arts & Sciences
Be enrolled in UAA with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or, for employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
Not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and
Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
