Job Description : Essential Functions:
Directly interface with HR Director of Operations and Facility Manager on issues related to employee relations including employee morale, policy enforcement, disciplinary issues, employee training needs, and travel. Escalate reports of serious HR matters to Corporate HR including claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, supervisory misconduct, and concerted activity.Ensure that the facility is in full compliance with all local, State, Federal laws, and OBI Seafoods’ policies regarding Human Resources matters. Ensure workplace compliance posters are appropriately displayed.Provide guidance and support for all personnel matters including orientation, coaching, discipline, termination and seasonal lay-off.Conduct prompt and thorough investigations as directed regarding employee issues and concerns and document statements and findings in a timely manner.Act as a liaison between the facility and Corporate HR and, ensuring an efficient flow of information through the Crew Manifest.Coordinate with Corporate HR and Benefit Specialist regarding enrollment, benefit changes, etc.Oversee maintenance of confidential personnel, medical and employee investigation records.Able to work well with multiple demands for 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week.
Post Season Wrap up:
Manage the employee exit process including facilitating performance review process and collecting exit questionnaires at the end of the season and prior to employee transfer as appropriate.Develop and implement strategy for improving employee retention.Collect and analyzing exit survey.Miscellaneous post season electronic filing, auditing, and general resolution of any open items.Other duties or special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Previous seafood industry experience is preferred.Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.Previous experience with a production workforce where employees reside onsite is preferred.Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills required. Able to interact and communicate positively and professionally in person, on the phone and in writing with individuals of all levels and diverse backgrounds.Able to maintain composure during busy times and challenging situations displaying a cheerful, can-do demeanor.Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills required as well as polished public speaking and presentation skills.Proven ability to strictly follow company policies and procedures.Conversationally bilingual in English and in Spanish is preferred.Available full time from Mid-February through End of September.Prompt, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
COMPENSATION:
Pay rate depends on experience. This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. In Alaska, overtime is one and one-half times the regular hourly rate and is paid for hours worked over 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours are worked in a week.Room and Board Included (While working in Alaska).Excellent benefits available, including medical, dental, prescription, vision plans, and 401(k) retirement plan.

Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.Position requires the ability to stand, sit at a desk, walking around office and plant, lifting, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds, utilizing fine dexterity. Requires reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment. Also requires the ability to see, Hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.Personal protective equipment, as defined by OBI Seafoods, will be provided.Position will be exposed to different levels of stress and responsibilities.
